The Monster Inside The Man Inside The Monster

I feel the monster inside me
      His teeth,
Sharp razors that cut into the heart of my soul.
I feel his struggle to escape,
      Beating at the cage within
And I wonder for how long I can contain him.
      I hear his words
The sweet temptations to give in and let go,
      His visions that scare me.
The blood drools from his lips and drips from his chin.
I see what he sees and it frightens me
And I wonder if he is who I can become.
      Is this sickness my destiny
      A secret desire unrealized?
He brings the terror to my dreams
Closing in I feel his grip tighten
A great claw around my trunk constricting.

      The claws dig in

I squeez hard at this mere man.
My talons plunge deep into his chest
And I feel his life ooze out into my hand.
      His world is mine
I've made this journey from within his soul.
      I hear him inside me,
      Screaming.
But now I have the control.
